Courtesy of Tar0Starting a new business enterprise is not only challenging, but it's also a time consuming process. For you to achieve any kind of growth or profitability in your business you need to go out there and promote your business fully. Using effective or strategic promotional methods will ensure that consumers not only know about your products or services, but they will also make purchases. An effective promotional strategy is the one that converts loyal customers who in turn refer new customers to your enterprise.

If you are looking for easy promotional methods for a new startup, then here are the top 5 ways to promote new business:

Social media channels can be very effective in promoting yourCourtesy of Marco Pako new business. Millions of people traffic these sites daily, meaning you can target your potential clients on these platforms by participating in these communities. Whether your target market is local, national or international, using social media will guarantee targeted reach. You can promote your business in popular social networking sites like twitter, facebook, linkedin, and google+, etc. Promoting your business on social media can take several approaches; such as, sharing useful content that includes texts or videos, running competitions in the form of contests or giveaways, or directly interacting community members.

2. Website & Blog

Courtesy of Owen BrownIt's crucial that you set up a website or blog for your business. Having a website or blog helps you raise your business visibility online. Thousands of people nowadays shop or look for information regarding products or services online, so it's therefore crucial that you tap into this targeted audience by setting up a website or blog for your business. A website or blog will not only communicate basic information about what you do, but it will also serve as a platform where you share information about your business or industry. If people find the information you provide on your website helpful then they will likely buy from you and as a result you will garner more sales.

3. Contest and Giveaways

Whether your business is online or offline, creating contests or giveaways where people win prizes or freebies is a great promotional idea, especially for new businesses. Naturally, people like free stuff and as a result they will likely be interested in what your business has to offer. Contest or giveaways where people win something have the potential of raising interest or creating buzz about your business. Some of the great prize ideas that can generate buzz for your businesses include things like: smartphones, laptops, music players, gift hampers etc. You can advertise giveaways or contests on your website, social media profiles, on TV,  radio,  newspapers, use fliers, on bulletin boards etc.

4. Publicity

Another excellent method or way of promoting your business involves using free publicity methods to push your business messages forward. You can compose a press release then send it to all possible media outlets. If the media personnel find that your story has an interesting angle, then they will likely include your story in their news and as a result you will get tons of targeted customers interested in your products or services. Another way of generating free publicity for your business is through word of mouth advertising. Telling as many people as you can about your business will likely get you a ton of business leads as the same people will likely tell others about your enterprise. There are many publicity ideas that you can implement to promote your business.  It's all about getting creative. Good ideas and I never really considered wristbands. But that is unique. I am amazed at how many people try to start a business today with very little capital. I don't know if people do not have confidence in their dream or if the avenues are just not there for loans. Once upon a time, if you wanted to to start a business of any sort, you took a loan and hoped for the best.

Loans allow for advertisers but these ideas you present are low cost and effective ways to promote your business to a level where you may have confidence to expand. I feel more and more people are trying to set up their own business and with the platform of the personal computer and social networking, more and more people are being successful.

Good post and discussion for lunch.

Good ideas. It's funny how some promotional strategies are relatively new (within the last ten years), like social media and blogging. Whereas others, like word of mouth seem to persist over hundreds of years.
